Why PenPals?

All over the world, more than 60 billion PLASTIC PENS are used and thrown in a year. These waste plastic pens are not collected at source, hence are not recycled, and they are irresponsibly disposed causing air, water & soil pollution. Project PenPals is aimed at creating a “Litter – Free, Literate World” (LFLW), one waste pen at a time…

What We Do

Education

To touch, move and inspire mankind, we plan to take PENPALS – LFLW across globe to educate, sensitize and empower everyone to manage one of the most discarded plastic waste problems that is created only by literate people. Through school sessions, workshops & competitions we will educate about waste plastic pens

Partnerships

For our commitment to create a circular economy around waste pens we seek partnerships with individuals and organizations who want to co-write this revolution with waste pens. Partner with us in Gift A Pen (GAP), one of our most powerful tools to create a LFLW and support education for the less resourced students.

Design Innovation

PenPals is a significant step towards regenerative design culture where the end products are cleaner, healthier, and usually have a better value than the material inputs (waste). In 2013, we started as the world’s 1st WASTE PLASTIC PENS up-cycling initiative that collects used/waste ball point pens.

Advocacy

LFLW will not be possible without enrolling state & central government towards creating better policies to reduce pollution created by waste plastic pens. We aim to bring the issue of waste pens to the foreground and take actions that will impact the world across.

STELLAR SCHOOL

St. Kabir - Drive in road

The school’s PenPals buddy club has been consistently raising awareness among students about the negative impact of single-use plastic pens and how to properly dispose them for the past seven years. Additionally, each year, the previous team trains the upcoming team, creating a sustainable cycle. PenPals buddy club has extended their initiative by another year, which involves collecting used plastic pens from students in grades V-X throughout the academic year and donating them to the WAY – EC foundation. This initiative in the school was under the leadership of Ms. Shital Parmar.
